Plan around people
Begin with the fixed parts of the day, then add the people and relationships you want time for. A group photograph takes more than the moment the shutter is pressed: someone has to gather the group, find the right place and help everyone settle.
Keep the portrait plan close by
A nearby space with manageable light may be more useful than a spectacular location that needs a long journey. Discuss alternatives with your photographer, including somewhere sheltered. Fewer transitions can mean more time actually enjoying the day.
Leave an open space
A schedule with no breathing room asks every small event to happen exactly on time. Allow for greetings, a pause together and the unexpected. Some of the photographs you value most may come from those unplanned intervals.
